Becky and Jake's story starts with loss — both lost their spouses to cancer in 2020, and both found themselves raising three kids on their own. When they met, Becky and her kids left Tennessee for Utah to be together, and in January 2023 they got married and became an overnight Brady Bunch, eight strong.
Becky had spent years as an entrepreneur in the wedding industry and wasn't ready to stop creating memorable experiences for people. She'd always dreamed of running an Airbnb on the beach, so she started closer to home instead — turning a basement studio into Cozy Retreat, an affordable getaway for couples and small families. It went so well that they added Cozy Cottage, just minutes away, so guests would have two peaceful, budget-friendly options instead of a hotel.
The car side started with a practical problem: six kids are eventually going to need six cars. After years of good experiences renting through Turo themselves, Becky and Jake figured they'd buy a car for each kid and rent it out for a couple of years to help pay for it. One car turned into ten — and every guest who books a trip with us still gets to be part of that same idea: creating a good experience, one trip at a time.
